Sony has announced that the PS4 will get a much needed and much requested feature: external harddrive support.
Support for external harddrives will be added in the forthcoming 4.5 update.
Players will be able to install games on external harddrives and run them straight from there, using USB 3.0. Up to 8 TB harddrives are supported.
This is great news for those who are running out of space on their PS4, but aren’t too keen on deleting games or replacing the internal drive.
But that’s not the only feature coming with 4.5. Those who have PlayStation VR will be glad to know that 3D Blu-ray support will be added to VR.
And PS4 Pro owners aren’t left behind either: a new “boost mode” is mentioned, which will boost the clock speed of the CPU and/or GPU in order to provide more power during certain moments.
PS4 update 4.5 should be released towards the end of this month.
