Hundreds of gamers line up to get a PlayStation VR in Japan

While PlayStation VR has had mixed success in the West, Japan can’t sell enough of them. Or Sony just hasn’t allocated enough units for the Japanese market.

Either way, a new shipment of PlayStation VR units was delivered to Japanese game stores today, which meant that hundreds of Japanese gamers lined up to get one.

And even then, there wasn’t enough units for everyone. So retailers like Bic Camera and Sofmap had to hold raffles to decide who gets to buy one.

Here are some more photos of people waiting in line all night all over Japan in order to get a PS VR.

      Hello there 0/

  • Nintendo Switch News

Still a pass for me ..VR is a silly gimmick and not worth 400 bucks

    • k2lu

Funny you said that coz that’s exactly what I think about Switch. All that switching from here to there, this and that..they make it look cool adding the controllers and removing them and changing them. No doubt an interesting idea but definitely gimmicky. At least for VR, the focus is on game play with a different experience and not deriving fun from switching the hardware.

Maybe for you but 400 is way to make for a gimmick and most are tech demos

        • Gotcha47

Well there are a lot of games for VR and more are coming. So what extra does the switch give me in comparison to the ps4. As i see it you should compare vr with other vr systems and in that the ps4 vr is unbeaten.

    • whatacutebum .

The PSVR is a fantastic little let piece of kit which I enjoy very much. The Switch looks shite

    • TomDobo

Sure its a gimmick but its a pretty good one. It is an expensive piece of hardware but once a library of great games come out like RE7 im pretty sure itll be a must have item. I love my PSVR it just needs time as its still fairly new.

      • Nintendo Switch News

The price tag is what is killing it and mostly tech demos

        • TomDobo

I know what you mean. The only game i have really enjoyed so far is RE7 (and obviously those tech demos are pretty cool to play once or twice) but that alone isnt worth the price tag. But as your aware when you become an early adopter of a new product it can take a while for things to release.

          • Nintendo Switch News

True but 400 dollars still does not warrant a buy for me and a lot of other people..as for the Nintendo Switch 299.99 is a whole lot better of a deal and like you said it takes time to grow from something new

          • Gotcha47

Lol a nintendo switch news in a ps4 forum, lol.

          • Daniel Gonzalez

Well, the $300 price tag depends on what people consider a good deal. The lineup so far in my opinion, is stale with only Zelda being the only big hitter until Mario Odyssey during the holidays.

    • Avin B.

I totally agree with you my friend. Say $200 is a steal for me.

  • That guy

    That’s the Switch line up!

  • Avin B.

They are waiting to get the first virtual reality “Anime Henti” or “Anime Fan service” game, Sony is going to make bank with this thing in it’s home land then over here in the West. I tried it my honest opinion it’s all right and fun, but I wouldn’t buy it. It’s a bit too expensive for my taste

  • Gotcha47

Lol a nintendo switch news person telling a story. Maybe you should be in the nintendo section. Switch well not for me, if gives nothing extra to gaming. Not in price or in games. And comparing vr with a switch, really. Maybe you should compare the price of vr with other vr systems. If you compare price between switch and ps4 they are the same. If i compare with games now and coming , well the switch does not deliver. The ps4 is the nr 1 and will stay there. So why bother with other systems. Means only spending money….
