New PS4 4.0 update detailed

Sony is gearing up to release the 4.0 version of the PS4 system software, and the company has just revealed what’s in store for us.

The 4.0 update will bring some much needed features, such as an improved user interface, support for folders, and more. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from PS4’s 4.0 update:

Folder support: you can now create folders to organize your content and games.

Library improvements: a new tab shows the content you have purchased, and it’s now has new sorting tools.

Trophies: you can now view trophies when offline. And finally, you are able to view the content of Hidden Trophies as well.

UI improvements: the user interface has gotten lots of smaller adjustments to help navigation, and includes new system backgrounds as well.

Share Menu: the share menu will save the last social network you share a video or screenshot on, for faster sharing. Also, the length of Twitter videos has been increased from 10 seconds to 140 seconds.

Quick Menu: the quick menu has been overhauled with some new features, such as online status of your friends, and shortcuts to quickly access your Party, Favorite Groups, and more.

Folder support! Finally! I hate having to scroll through 50 icons to get to what I want. Seems like such a simple idea, I don’t know why it wasn’t there from the beginning

For the same reason we STILL can’t change our userID. Because they still don’t understand that the simplest features are the best ones.

        Custom background.
        External hdd support
🙁 those are more important than those social features.

      Even Wii U has that

      • Gotcha47

Oh you mean that thing that does not sell…..

        • thedeciderU

          that’s the joke…

Lots of OK features. But the best one, which is backwards compatibility, will never be there. If that was the case, no one would buy your Remasters, and you’ll have to actually create new games, right? Yeah, I thought so. But ok, we have folders now

Tbh and i might be alone but I’ll rather have new gen features like share play and rest mode than BC but if you’re asking for BC with the ps3 you’re out of luck

      • michaelknight31

Who wants to hookup there old ps3 it would just take up more space

      • GreatU2

I’ll rather have both. But sure as hell I prefer BC before tons of Remasters

      You right

Boohoo my ps4 is not compatible with ps3. Why well we all know the architecture is not compatible and that is known from day one !! So like all little kids you need to make something clear what we already know and accept. And i am happy with the remastered games, especially the ones i played on ps3. If you want to play the games you can stream them from NOW. Yes you must pay each month a little money, servers, games are fit to play in 1080, they do not work for free. No one does, so little kid grow up and if you in real life only ask for the way we all know then sorry to say you are quite boring…..

First I’m going to clarify that I have both the Xbox One and PS4 and really like both consoles. Now, what I find really funny is all those years that BC was pumped up by PS fanboys as a major reason to pick PS over XB. Now that XB has BC and PS does not…”Oh who cares? If you want to play those old games just keep your old consoles”.

  • wolf fang

Lol the ps3 can’t be emulated on the ps4 don’t even know why you brought it up

  • Greentraveller

Still cannot Play a basic Music Cd with visual graphic display

All I care is when are they going to add more games to the PS2 Virtual Console!! I got the PS4 again because of the PS2 virtual console and Uncharted 4. I got some of my favorite PS2 games but some are still missing. Games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper. I can’t wait for those great games to be added to the list. Anyways PS4 rocks and I am glad I got it again. I gave my first one to my little brother for Christmas, and then messed up going for the Xbox1 afterwords. Now I am back and ready to play some great PS4 and PS2 games.
