People have been expecting a new Crash Bandicoot game for years. From the subtle teases prior to the PS4’s launch to Shawn Laden wearing a Crash Bandicoot shirt during last year’s PSX press conference and finally a far more blatant tease in a recently-released PS4 exclusive, Sony hasn’t really kept this one under wraps. But since we don’t have anything official, we can only speculate…which brings us to today’s latest rumor.
A retailer listing has spurred discussion of Crash Bandicoot returning, as an addition to the Skylanders lineup. Listed on the Singapore retailer Qisahn’s website are three versions of Activision’s upcoming Skylanders Imaginators: Dark, Standard, and Crash. What the Crash Bandicoot version of the game could include is up in the air, but it may simply have a Crash Bandicoot figure to play with the game or it may just be an entire Crash-themed level. Who knows?
With Activision still possessing ownership of the Crash Bandicoot IP, it’s surprising that Crash hasn’t made it into Skylanders yet, so this surprise announcement doesn’t seem too far-fetched. Besides, this could pave the way for a proper Crash platformer somewhere down the line. Only time will tell.
For now, we’ll just have to sit on our hands and wait
impatiently for Sony’s E3 2016 Press Conference next Monday evening at 9pm EST.
