Here’s something that took us a bit by surprise: the PlayStation 4 controller apparently is quite a chunky one. The DualShock 4 is definitely larger than the previous PS3 controller, and larger than the Xbox One controller as well.
As the image above shows, there is a serious size different between the two next gen controllers. The DualShock 4 is both wider and taller than the Xbox One, although the button sizes seem to be relatively the same.
On the image below, you can see how the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 compares to PS3’s DualShock 3 controller. Again, the PlayStation 4 controller is larger, with larger grips and a wider design to accommodate the larger touchpad in the center. The PlayStation 4 controller also has a built-in speaker and head-set port, which take up some space.
It all comes down to how the controller feels in the hands of the gamer, and we’ll have to wait until this Fall to find out.
