Unreal Engine 4 officially announced for PlayStation 4

UE4 PlayStation 4There wasn’t any doubt whether the Unreal Engine 4 would come to the PlayStation 4: Sony themselves showcased a demo of the engine running on the PS4 during the unveiling on February 20th.

Epic Games, makers of the Unreal Engine 4, have now officially announced that the next-gen game engine will be coming to the PlayStation 4. Epic now offers the engine and its complex tools to game makers around the world.

The previous Unreal Engine, UE3, was the most popular third party game engine of the previous generation, powering games such as Mass Effect, Batman Arkham City, Borderlands, and many others.

The Unreal Engine 4 tech demo we’ve seen so far looks might impressive. We’re sure the price tag for the engine will be might impressive too — licensing the previous version went upwards of $1 million per project. Check out the UE4 tech demo running on the PlayStation 4 below:
