
The PlayStation 4′s PC based hardware means it will be a lot easier to make games for the system. And it also means that game tool makers will have a much easier time bringing their tools to the PS4. Game engines, physics toolkits, etc. will be much easier to implement on the PlayStation 4 than they were on the PS3, which is always a great thing for developers.
Geometrics, a company that creates the highly popular Enlighten lighting technology used in games such as Battlefield 3, have announced that Enlighten will be available for the PlayStation 4 console. The lighting technology will be used in the upcoming Battlefield 4, which has been confirmed for the PlayStation 4.
Earlier today, Nvidia announced that PhysX gaming physics software will be coming to the PS4 as well. During the PS4 unveiling on February 20th, Sony showcased some engine technology from Square Enix and the upcoming Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games. Sony also showcased physics technology by Havok, which is the most popular video game physics middle-ware in the world.
