Not all PlayStation 4 cloud features will be available on launch day

PS4-gaikai-300Sony revealed a ton of features of the upcoming PlayStation 4. Among those are streaming of older PS1, PS2, and PS3 games, a plethora of sharing options, and much more. However, Sony has confirmed that those online and cloud features will be rolled out gradually after launch.

Here are the features we know PlayStation 4 will launch with:

  • “Share button” — instantly share your gameplay feed with friends.
  • Twitter/Facebook integration
  • All games will be available digitally
  • PlayStation Vita cross play is supported (games may or may not ship with it)
  • Trophy system will be available on day one
  • Streaming media (Hulu, Netflx)

What might not be available on day one:

  • Streaming of PS1, PS2 and PS3 games might be limited since older games need to be prepared for the service
  • Not all “Share” features might be online.
  • Features such as other players guiding someone through the game or taking over the controls.
  • Playing PS4 games remotely on the PlayStation Vita.

Sony has confirmed that not all cloud features will be available on day one, and we expect them to clarify what will be available during E3. The console will launch this holiday season.

huh this was kinda the same deal with the wii u not everything was avilable day 1.Wouldnt be surprised if this happens to the xbox 720

    • cacoo

Would be surprised if the xbox even has half of those services! Gonna be as shit as the 360 was when it was launched!

  • cacoo

Yeah – they said this on the 20th dude – this isn’t news. Just lazy journalism!

Likely these services will be rolled out over time. That way they have the liberty of rolling it out to a select number of people and get feedback on the features.

  • am I the only one who is seeing the Wii U in the PS4?

They’re doing what Nintendo did. They want to rush out the console for the holidays. Launch games might suffer from that.

Not really a fan of the whole “cloud” thing.

If this is true, then there’s that’s a huge problem. Sony should be learning from Nintendo: If you don’t have all the features that you advertised ready for launch, then don’t release the console.

LOL someone needs to go tell that to Micro$haft then cause half it’s features are NOT available at launch either…2 of the major ones not available at launch are Netflix hulu or streaming services in general

      • Ibi Salmon

Both of them needs to learn from Nintendo’s mistake.
